That's very interesting about your time in Biloxi. You wouldn't recognize it now after all the hurricanes. Buena Vista is no more! When were you at Keesler? My rock and roll band played there several times in 1969 at the Airman's Pub. Also at the Fiesta and Vapors night clubs. Any chance you were there at that time? We can now add music to our common interests.

I was stationed at Keesler for several months in 1954, right out of Basic Training. Then I was shipped to Japan, Yokota AB, where I worked ground and air to ground radio with the RB-29's. Basic Training back then was held at Sampson AFB, NY on the Five Fingers Lakes for those enlisting on the East Coast. Central US you went to Lackland AFB which is a couple of miles away from me. If you were in the West, your went to Parks AFB California. I went into service in November and took Basic Training in the dead of winter that it was so cold the lake froze over! I think it was January when I got out of there, and was sent to Biloxi. I thought I had died and gone to Heaven because it was nice and hot! I see the Buena Vista is no more. Did a Hurricane get it, or did they just tear it down?

Ok. That was many years before I was there! The Buena Vista was heavily damaged by Camille but burned in 1991. There is now a baseball park where it stood and the Beau Rivage Casino is on the beach side. I'm enclosing a link that best describes it. They just built a crosswalk about where the old one was to go from the casino to the baseball park.

John, thank you for the update and the link on the Buena Vista hotel. I have some fond memories of the times spent working out of the hotel taking guests for boat rides and meeting many of the guests who were staying there. My uniform of the day was usually a black speedo swimsuit with crossed bands on each hip, which, when out of that swimsuit, left me with two diamond shaped sun tanned areas on each hip. That, sun bleached blond hair, a Captains hat and a heavy sun tan was my uniform of the day! Those 18 year old diamond colored sun tanned hips, blond hair and a "Baby Face" caused a lot of excitement among the women of Japan later on that year! lmbo... That was the nickname they gave me...

Fortunately, or unfortunately, there are no pictures of me, that I am aware of in my "uniform". Not even in my Air Force uniform, back then, that I know of!

Tweety 2 came with the OEM Mustang Emergency Mobile Repair Kit with compressor and sealant, which I am not fond of at all. After reading about what happens if you use it, and getting input from my friend Stan, a long time Mustang owner of many years, I decided to get the OEM Mustang Spare Tire Kit with the small tire, scissor jack, and attachments. Stan and from what I read on the Mustang Forums, after using his, will not use it again. In fact, from what I read, once you do use it, it can't be used again, unless you can get the sealant refilled. And I have been told by my dealer, you will need to buy another tire IF you do use it, because the use of that mobile kit can damage the tire you use it on. Most Mustang owners have opted to get the Spare Tire Kit, which is what I did yesterday. Or if they are ordering a new Mustang, they order it with the Spare Tire Kit and not that Mobile Repair Kit. So later today, I will pick up my Spare Tire Kit, and replace that kit that is in there now with it. It only takes about 5 minutes to take out that kit and put in the Spare Tire Kit. At least, if I have a normal flat, I will have the donut tire and jack to replace a flat tire with that tire to get me to a tire repair shop or the dealer. Or have a spare and equipment for someone else to change a tire for me.... If you have a blow out and not just a leak, that Mobile Kit would be useless anyway, and should not be used. Because you will just expend the contents of that sealant and it will do nothing to seal a blowout where the tire has been cut or split. So I am told... Here are a couple of pix...

Ray, I had the same situation with my Hyundai Elantra. Bought a new tire and rim with jack. At least the car came with a compressor!

I've not looked in the trunk of an S550, but do they still even have a "well" for a spare?
My 14 Stang did, but that was last of solid axle.

I don't run a spare, but it's only a toy that doesn't go anywhere much and never in any kind of weather
(or even if it's cold out since I only run summer tires), so no big deal if I even have to have it towed home,
as it's under collector insr, so towing is free.

Hi Henry, yes, there is still a "well" for the spare tire. The Emergency Mobile Repair Kit fits into a container that sits in that "well". I took mine out of it and put a small spare, jack/wrench in it from Ford... I do not know when Ford started equipping the Mustangs with this Kit, but, as I recall, the 2016 that I saw recently, had it, as does my 2017. I assume that also includes the 2018's and the newer ones. I am told that buyers are now ordering their new Mustangs with the small tire, and jack/wrench combo...

That's good, would hate to have it take up weird amounts of trunk space.
I plan on using my "well", eventually, for batteries for a motor in wheel setup
on the front, so I can have AWD.
