Thanks for letting me join. I bought a 1960 Tbird from out of state. Everything was done and then the Governor of the state closed down all businesses. So it may be a few weeks before I can get her home. In the meantime I fiddle with my 58 wagon.

Hi David, and welcome to Squarebirds.org! Congratulations on the 1960 Tbird, though I see it got hung up on the virus situation. Hopefully, that will not last too long! While you are waiting, if you have not done so, take a look at the Thread about Things To Do When You Buy A Tbird. There is a lot of good information that you will need to know regarding it. The Wagon and engine look great and thanks for posting the pix. If you have time to talk, give me a call at 210-875-1411. There is lots I can tell you about this Forum and your 1960 Squarebird... If not tonight, then at anytime tomorrow... Thanks for becoming a Paid Member, as that is very much appreciated. Paid Memberships keep this Forum going! You have found a great Forum, and there is so much to tell you about us and your Tbird! I see you posted before I processed your Paid Membership. The next time you post, you should see the Member icon by your user id! Best Regards, Ray

Hi David! Thanks to you posting the Data Plate, I can tell you that your Tbird IS already listed in the Tbird Registry of John Rotella. It is 0Y71Y106060 - Tbird Registry #60435. If you bring up www.tbird.info, and enter either the VIN # or the Registry #60435, you will find a bit of history about your car. Not a lot, but some. John Rotella is dedicated to recording what has happened to every Tbird ever made, still on the road, under repair, being restored, lost in an accident, or having been crushed or parted out. Someone did report the status of your Tbird to him in the past. I just updated John for you, as to the status of that Tbird, with you now being the owner, and waiting for its arrival after the shutdown. I sent him a copy of the Data Plate so he can update the entry on that car for you. Later on, I can give you more detailed info about your car, from the Data Plate now that I can see it. Here also is a website that you might want to check out that will give you a lot more information regarding the 1960 Thunderbird. http://automotivemileposts.com/tbird...lections.shtml. That should give you a lot of good information. I will be able to tell you what color it left the factory as, what interior it had, the Date it actually was born on, the tranny and axle that was in it when it left the Factory in Wixom some 60 years ago... Oh,I see that the System has picked up your Member icon and also your personal Avatar! Good!

0Y71Y106060 0=1960, Y=Wixom Assembly Plant, the only one used for Tbirds back then, 71=2Dr Hardtop, Y=Engine Code=352, 1=every Tbird back then started with the #1... 06060=Actual Serial Number assigned to your Tbird.
              www.tbird.info Tbird Registry is #60435

Body 63A, Color A Trim 85 Date 14K Trans 4 Axle 3. Body 63A=2Dr Hardtop, Color= Raven Black=Color of the car when it left the factory, Trim=85=Red Leather Interior, Date=14K=Approximate Date it was built. I can tell you the actual date. Because they were just gearing up for the 1960 Production run in September, 1959, they were making 1960 Tbirds in the range of 200-300 each day. Later on, they were knocking them out at the rate of 400++ per day. It was not unusual for them to be behind or ahead of the production schedule due to restocking of the line, line repairs, and as they got further into production each year and got used to the new model, production picked up considerable. This was especially true when they were changing from one body style to a new one, like going from the Squarebird to the Bulletbird. Yours was made on the day of the 15th of October... 1 Day later then the estimated 14K (14 October) date says. Trans=4=Cruise-O=Matic, Axle=3=3.10.

There you have the breakdown of your Data Plate for ya.

Thanks for posting the pix! She looks like she did when she left the factory. She will be a great one to add to the 2021 Squarebirds.org Calendar that I put out each year! Keep that in mind for down the road. You will have plenty of time to submit her if that interests you. In the meantime, if you want a 2020 Squarebirds.org Calendar, go to Anything Goes, and look for the listing of the previous Squarebirds.org Calendars and you can print it out. Or you can order it directly from the company who makes them for me, for about $20 including mailing. https://www.createphotocalendars.com...dar-9751688041

Car is finally home. Nice but the dealer was not up front and truthful about condition. Live and learn. It can be fixed, just time and money.
