    Tripower -we're being ripped off!!!!

Found and ad in a magazine:

High Performance Tripower Kit For The Big Fords

    Manifold
    Three Holleys
    Integral Air Cleaner (Oval style)
    Fuel Log & Gas Lines
    Throttle Linkage
All asssembled and ready for installation

    Full price? $149.50 F.O.B. Michigan. ($50 deposit)

A shame it was back in '63 though....hehehehe!

But man, have those things increased in value, I wish I had a warehouse full of them!

Way back in 1965 having gotten out of high school the year before and had a good job, I ordered a K code fastback mustang and wanted to put a tri-power on it. The tri-power and dual quad setups were $275.00 from Ford. I decided I couldn't afford one. Turns out I didn't need three carbs since the mustang flew without extra carbs. Here is a picture of my mustang taken in 1965. I wish I still had that car.

I have a tri-power setup for my thunderbird but do not have it on the car since I got tired of having to replace the float bowl gaskets to stop gas leaks every time I wanted to drive the car. If you let one of these set for a month or 2 between drives the cork float bowl gaskets shrink and leak.
Here is a recent picture of the tri-power setup after having set for 20 years. I am getting my 60 Bird back in shape but will not put the tri-power setup back on it. It would look neat but too much of a pain.

Kultulz; Thanks for the infomation. I'll check them out. I never liked Holley carbs for that reason. I haven't messed with Holley carbs for many years.
          Thanks, Gary
