If you can get the model number off the singer I should be able to help you out with the oiling/cleaning/threading - might need a replacement belt, but one never knows...

the Treadle is a whole noth'r beasty!
way kewl, but very hard to find replacement belts for...but if in good shape, can handle about anything stuck under the foot!

would love to see pix of these machines !!

Hi cathie I gota say I have one of those singers. It was my mothers and she would try anything with that. I used to know how to thread the thing and use it, But brain cramps have set in. I still have one with the pedal under it.

    Thanks Victor....

The singer is like a 56 or 57 issue; metal inside, not plastic like the newer models...this 319W was kinda of a 'bomb' for singer in that the industrial strength of the machine and all the stitch selections, was slightly intimidating for the regular home sewer.
It can sew multiple layers of denium/leather/canvas/vinyl and sports a variety of stitches.

The embroidery machines are very kewl as well, Ive never seen a 6 head model myself, must be something to watch work!

Nice machines! I like the classic Singer. My mom has an early 50s singer that she used to make most of our clothes when we were kids. That machine is still running perfectly! She still uses it now and then.

My sister in law works in embroidery. She had her own business for several years. The embroidery machines are cool, Her biggest was a 6 head digital. It was nice having a emboiderer in the family when the Jeep club would do an event. I would buy hats at cost, work up a design, she would scan it in and do some tweaking and I would run the hats. Unfortunately she sold the biz and now works for the company that bought her out. Great while it lasted.
