    Australia's Holden

Ever sence the first Mad Max movie and seeing the Holden panel the he and his family drove I have had an interest in these cars. I even have a few Holden Commodor's in my HotWheel collection, hard to find because they (Holden HotWheels) were not sold in the US. Anyway I was searching the web for Holden hotrods and found this absolutely beautiful retro concept car, the Holden Efijy. More pix and story:

I also kinda like the early 70s HQ's

    Correction

The Holden has been selling in the States for the past while now. It's badged as the Pontiac GTO. I don't think they are exported in the U.S. after this year because of the G.M. turmoil. Good to see someone interested in our cars.
The first Australian Car the HOLDEN FX was produced in 1948.
The most popular car produced here in Australia was the Ford Superoo 1971 GT HO Phase 3, 351ci. The fastest 4 door Sedan in the World.

And I would like a model of a 66 Town Landau - plactic, metal or anything!

I have a maroon 58 tbird by Johnny Lightning and have none of the hotwheels birds

I was at the toy store last week and saw a black 65HT, dont think it was a landau though. (could have been a 64 or 66?). I will have to go back and see if thet still have one, there was a couple of them hanging on the rack.

Carefull, HotWheels can be addicting. I worked with a kid in the 80s that collected. He showed me a Purple Passion (1950 Mercury sled), next thing ya know I had one. Now I have over 3000 cars in the package and maybe 400 loose cars. Most of my cars are from the late 80s and 90s but also have a few choice cars from the 60s and 70s. I have tried to kick the habit but find myself cruising the diecast lane in the stores quite often. Drives my wife nuts!

As my 25 yr old son says, "...its a collectors piece, not a toy, unless you play with them..."
All his are stored in hand built Lego's garages....

Check out older (well established) thrift stores, never know what kind of treasure you will find

The current & terrific Pontiac G8; G8 GT and G8 GT-X are all Holden cars, called the commodore over there & have right hand driver over there.
Pontiac is dead. there will be NO 2010 Pontiac, and as a bye bye present there are 2 special editions. The G8 GT-X with Corvette Engine & 6-Speed Automatic or 6-Speed Manual, and a G8 GT "FireHawk" from the same New Jersey company that made the Firebird SLP Firehawk, SLP Enterprises.
The Fully Loaded FireHawk is around $55,000 the GT-X is around $42,000.

Hey Scumdog (Tom) I was out at the Bird Nest today getting a headlight nob and guess what they had sitting there on the shelf... Yup, a 66 thunderbird plastic model kit that can be built either as a convertable or a Landau. The model is made by AMT, he had 2 original release that were real spendy but he also had a several re-issues of the same model at $15.00 each. These are model kits that you would put together. His were just like this:

The original release showed a landau top car on the top of the box but the re-issue showed the convertable, he was nice enough to open one to make sure it could be built both ways and sure enough it had the top in there.
                        If you are interested, here is their website for contact info;
Bird Nest is the best place for 1958-66 Thunderbird parts. Call us today at 1-800-232-6378 or visit our website at www.tbirdparts.com.

They dont list the models on there but they do have them for sale.
It is so nice having two thunderbird parts suppliers within 20 minutes of me

Tbird Sanctuary is the other one.
This is the first time I have visited Bird Nest, Very nice people over there. I didnt even ask the guys name but he was one of the owners along with his brother (I think). We talked for a good 1/2 hour and he took me on a little tour, showed me a few of the cars he has down in the warehouse. I wish I would have had a camera. They have a 62, they call it "Thundero" (rhymns with Ranchero). Yep it was a nicely done thunderbird made into a pickup ala Ranchero. Looks like it could have come from the factory. They were going to use it as a parts hauler but it turned out way way too nice for that.
Yes sir, very nice people at bird nest. One other thing that I found interesting is that they make 300 different parts. They see a need, if there is none available NOS they go into production. Just one of the items they reproduce are the sill plates on the door thresholds. Pretty cool.

Oh, Yes! I forgot about Tbird Sanctuary. Yes, the guys at Bird Nest have ALWAYS been helpful to me. They quartzed my clock for me, rebuilt my Fuel/Temp gauge (twice, thanks to a mechanic!) and helped me locate and obtain more parts than I want to think of... I have never had a problem dealing with them, and they know their Tbirds very well. They have helped me over the phone many times when I was trouble shooting something..
