Randall Scott ~ 60birdaussie & Dana & Tasmanian S&S
One of the many personal relationships and emailing back and forth I have around the worls are with Randall & Dana Scott who now live in Tasmania. Randall is still working on his 1960 Squarebird and has it in good running condition. Here is what they sent me yesterday regarding their present activities, including attending a S&S event.
"I've been busy with pulling the old shed down and getting stuff organized to put up the new one.
Went to the first S&S that I've been to in Tassie today before driving back down to Hobart. Was a great show and beautiful weather. Will send ya some pics of that too. Dana was impressed with the amount of beetles there and has got some great ideas for restoring hers.
Unfortunately there were no Tbirds but there was a 1961 Fairlane 500, Tank/barge Fairlane as called over here which does have similarities with the Squarebirds. I think it's basically the same as Dave's Galaxie or maybe a Custom 300. They were made in the US and Canada and converted to R/hand drive for the Australian market at Ford Australia Geelong plant near Melbourne. They also had the 332 FE export engine backed up with the Ford 'O' Matic transmission and 9 inch Diff.I'll send you pics of this as well mate.
Basically haven't been on the email train or anything lately mate, just been busy getting the stuff sorted out so we can get our cars home. Dana and I demolished the old shed, which was okay if you were a midget, ( I'm 6'2 and kept smacking my head on some of the beams).
We kept all of the good hardwood and all of the old tin as I want to make a 50s style retro interior of the new shed, you know, with the old signs, oil bottles and the like. Will send you a couple of pics now and the rest tomorrow night. Anyway, cheers mate, I'll send the rest tomorrow night. Take care and stay safe!
