The Passing Of Bill Van Ess....

Martin informed me via email that a well known member of the Tbird society has passed away. Bill ~ Bill VE was a Squarebird Forum member since 2004, but has not been very active since 2019. Here is what Martin had to say.

"Fellow Thunderbird enthusiast “ Bill Van Ess ‘ has passed away . Bill was very keen on the ’58 Thunderbird Convertible and kept a registry of all he found. Also had written a publication on the convertible quite a few years ago with all the VIN’s and present owners at that time . Did a lot of research on the ’58 ‘ unibody ‘ Thunderbird Convertible."

Over the years I have had good conversations with Bill. He and his knowledge will certainly be missed.

I'm sorry to hear about Bill's passing. I remember meeting him many years ago at the VTCI conventions. He had an incredible passion for Squarebirds, especially '58 convertibles. Yes, he will be sorely missed.

Bill was one of our early contributors to our Technical Resource Library (TRL) which members like him help me build over the years. If you have never read his article on the "unibody" construction of the Tbird, you should. It has been the first Link under BODY for years.

If you wish to read Bills 'obituary " , it is at Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford Mi. In his later years Bill was also into DeTomaso Pantera's and kept a registry there also for the DeTomaso clubs .

Very sad to hear of Bill's passing and condolences to his family. His son Paul is continuing with his 59 race car project that they both worked on.
