Tom, our New Zealand Administrator, having seen my "Tweety 2" aftermarket license plates on my Mustang, asked me if I could get a set of Texas style plates for his Dodge Pickumup truck! So I did. I got mine from Amazon and they market aftermarket license plates for about every State. So he sent me what he wanted on them and I ordered them for him. It took me awhile to get them to him, because of Covid delays in shipping things Down Under, but he got them the other day and slapped them on his truck. Here is a picture of what they look like!

Hi Dano! When Tom and Chris were up here to visit with Leonard & Deb Wheeler the last trip, the four of them came down to San Antonio to meet me. I did the Tour San Antonio and the Riverwalk with them and thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet all four of them! So the lengthy relationship that Tom and Chris, and Leonard & Deb have, visiting each others country back and forth, was extended to include me in their visit, which I greatly appreciated. My understanding is that the NYK951 is the license plate number for his truck. He wanted a Texas license plate to put it on,and asked me if I could order a set for him and I did. So that is how that came about! As I said, you can buy an aftermarket license plate that resembles your States from all 50 States, and I think from other countries also, from Amazon and put on them what you want. They may look similar to the official State plate, but they have to be a bit different to prevent any problems with a State.

For the benefit of Dan and other curious members: that NYK951 means nothing, it’s just the random licence plate issued when the GMC (which by the way is actually Christines!) was made legal for use on NZ roads - a drawn out process sometimes however it was TOO bad in our case.
And as NZ plates are longer than US plates they don’t fit into the factory US mounting place se we decided to involve Ray in getting us Texas look plates.
So Christine now enjoys driving her GMC with its fancy plates!A Thunderbirder from the Land of the Long White Cloud.Comment
