Here is what Tom had to say about their trip to Beach Hop 2020 this year, and pix from it.... Enjoy these!
"Hi Ray, Due to Covid19 the annual Beach Hop was postponed from February to November. (Remember, it is Summer Down Under now!) Christine and I went up there in Fat Cat, our ‘55 F100 (and used $1,280 worth of gas for the return trip!) and had a ball - as usual. I took many photos so I thought I’d send you some although it might take a few emails to send them to you! The yellow car is a ‘59 Vauxhall Velox, the others self explanatory. I hope that (a) you stay Covid free and (b) the ‘winter’ is not too hard on you. More pics! The red car is a 1974 HQ Holden Kingswood, completely stock looking apart from the obvious supercharger! HQ Holden’s were very common back in the 70’s, they were family cars, taxis, police cars etc. The bronze car is what was sold in Australia as a 1970 Holden Monaro however they were marketed in South Africa as a Chevrolet SS, (hence the licence plate) they had different grille and headlight treatment to the Australian version. The motor in the Australian version could have been anything from a six cylinder to a 327 Chev ( maybe a 350) One pic was taken from the drivers seat of Fat Cat while waiting for the cruise to start. This is the last pics for today! The little car with flames is a Ford Prefect, probably from about 1962. The glaring dash is in a 59 Edsel wagon, don’t know how pleasant it would be to drive in bright sunlight! The Beach Hop normally has a give away car, this year it was a ‘65 Mustang convertible running triple carburetors, a show winning car from the USA. Next year it’s a ‘56 Thunderbird! Complete with 312 and continental kit. Regards, Tom".
