scumdog On The Road Again NZ Hot Rod Ntls

Random pics from the NZ Hot Rod Nationals

    "Hi All,
Just a few pics from today at Ashburton where the hot rod nationals are being held.
Part of the run today was to a millionaires holiday home ( he only spends the. NZ summer here) and some of his tractor collection (mainly for Leonard’s benefit)
The other vehicles are not what you would expect to see in the US, the first one is a Vanguard panel-van and the other is ‘48 FX Holden that my friend made into a two-door and roof chopped and fitted with late model GM Holden running gear and suspension.
More later, it’s 10:30 here and I’m heading to bed. Tom"

    Here are the pix!

Our first Family car was a 1955 Vanguard Spacemaster sedan back in 1963. My first American car was a 1956 Ford Customline in 1965.

Here is more from Tom and 3 more pix.

        "Hi guys,
Here’s a couple of pics of my mates FX Holden and it’s dash - look familiar?
It just one of the many subtle modifications he’s made to the Holden, fitting a narrowed ‘55 dash to it.
The other pic is just one of a nice Chev I saw.
There’s three T-birds here, a ‘55, a 57 and a ‘59, I’ll see if I can get pics of them. Well off to lunch, see you later. Tom."

          scumdog Is Back Home Again!

Here final pix from Tom & Christine's trip.

"Hi All, We’re home again safe and sound (apart from the new axle seal not doing its job).
I’ve got these pics and about three others to post and that’s it - you won’t have to suffer anymore pics from this trip!
The first pic is of Christine driving our friends daughters ‘38 sedan around the grass slalom course known as a grasskhana here in NZ. (The owner was not aware her car was being used!)
Her time wasn’t too bad considering she had never driven the sedan before.
The next pics are of a couple of Thunderbirds that were there, the red one has an interesting banner across the top of the windscreen.
The last pics are of a show winning ‘53 F100 that the NZ owner bought from the US and it apparently cost US$300,000 to build. Tom."

Here are the pix! Enjoy! The '59 is the exact Turquoise color I was looking for when I was searching for my '59, but could not find...

Very nice Tom. I also like the Turquoise color. On the Red '59 it's got 1955-2015, 60 years since the introduction of the 1st T BIRD.
It is now 60 years since the first SQUARE BIRD was introduced, 1958-2018.
