I appreciate that several visitors to this message board have donated to this site. I have set up webspace to use for each of these members, but so far no one has put up anything on his/sher site. Do you need any help? Any specific problemns you are encountering?

      Travlin,

I see you were able to log into your site, but you did not make any changes. What were the problems you encountered?

For starters, the fact that I know next to knowing about building a webpage from scratch might have something to do with it. http://www.nfl-world.com/forums/imag...lies/dunno.gif

You don't need to know much to get started. You can make up a webpage in Word and then save it as an html file. Then all you need to do it upload it to your webspace.

          Try it!

One other thing I meant to mention ... Some folks (like myself) may simply be trying to help support this website. But I'll give it a go.

I definitely appreciate the support. The money goes to pay for the server rental.

              Thanks,

                RE: Squarebird Member Websites

now that I have webspace, I'd like to put some pics on it.

Problem: I have no earthly idea how to do it....

I have digital pics of my car.
How do I upload them to my space??

I know some about computers but not in this area - I have zero experience with website construction.

                any help would be appreciated.

                  Thanks for supporting the site.

Instructions for using your webspace are at http://www.squarebirds.org/cgi-bin/d...conf=DCConfID4 . To make a simple webspace you need nothing more than Word and Internet Explorer.

I'm in the same boat Casey. It's why I went to the Host I did for my website.

With that site, it was too easy -- They "held your hand" through the whole page building process.

Nothing at all against the board/webpage software here; I'm just pretty illiterate when it comes to building a webpage.

Alexander, just out of curiousity -- How much bandwidth per month are we allowed on a Squarebird.org webpage?

It does seem complex with all the links and formatting.

I have been using Microsoft Front Page and have grown accustomed to it. I know people who have used Coffee Cup (shareware) and like it though I never have. I started out writing my own html, which in may opition is almost as easy as using software.

Make it a simple or complex as you like - and consider it a works in process - it's never done (don't look at my house pages right now as I do not have my pictures sized right and they look horrible).

this is probably a stupid question...
I've loaded (transfered) some pics of my car to my webspace.
I type in http://www.squarebirds.org/users/tarps3 and it goes to my webpage, but no photos show up.
                        What did I do wrong?

                        oh, I just love technology

                          Casey,

You are getting close to doing something. You put all the pictures in a folder called "1960 thunderbird". Do not use spaces to name folders or files. I have taken the liberty to change the name of the file to "1960thunderbird". You can see all your pictures on file at http://squarebirds.org/users/tarps3/1960thunderbird/

You now just need to insert the pictures into a file (web page). I have inserted one of your pictures into http://squarebirds.org/users/tarps3/index.htm .

Your pictures are very nice, but very big. On broad band this is no problem, but for a dial-up user, it would take forever to download.

I agree that FrontPage by Microsoft is an easy to use program for beginners. It guides you through with wizards on how to build a website. It does have its quirks. It makes code that is cumbersome and that's why pages made on FrontPage take longer to download.

A better prgram is Macromedia DreamWeaver, but you would need to by a book to learn how to use it. I use that program currently.

I love the house tha 49effie is restoring. It reminds me of the Victorian era houses in Cape May. My fiance and I went on vacation there over the 4th of July weekend.

We have plenty of bandwidth. The server that we are using gets well over 300,000 hits per day and is not slowed by it.
