Hello everyone! My name is Jim and I am brand new to this site. I might need some help navigating thru it so please be patient with me. I am curious as to how one can quickly identify the difference between the '58 and '59 T Bird's. I know the '60 right off but I don't know what to look for in telling the difference between the other two.

RE: Visible Differences between !958 and 1959 square b
Welcome to the board!
The easiest way to tell the 1958 and 1959 apart is the exterior trim. The 1958 has a honeycomb grill that is reapeated in the pattern of the mock grills behind the tail lights. The 1959 has a chrome arrow on the door while the 1958 has chrome hash marks on the door.
The interiors are nearly identical between the two years except the instruments on the 1958 are black while the ones on the 1959 are white. Leather interiors were also not offered on the 1958's.
The most notable mechancial difference between the two cars is that the 1958 has a coil spring suspension underneath, while the 1959 and 1960 have the more conventional, for the time period, leaf spring suspension.

My 58 has white instruments, I have had it since 65 and they are original. Could be a late 58. 58 had a round t-bird emblem on side of top 59s had a bird. fender ornament was round 59 has a litle bird on it.

That is interesting that your 1958 has white instruments. Is the radio also black? Are the knobs black or white?
I have heard that some late 1959 Thunderbirds had white steering centers like the 1960.

It's amazing how much Ford used parts from the previous or next model year on some of these Birds.
