I am sitting here enjoying the view of Joe Johnston's beautiful '62 Sports Roadster Bulletbird and his '57 Babybird. Tbirds Of The Month for October in the Squarebirds Calendar. Just a gorgeous picture and well deserved to be selected!

Thank you for the compliment!!
My wife and I decided to give each of our daughters a Thunderbird (someday - when the Old Man has had his fun). Over the past weekend out oldest said she can't wait to get to her office Monday and turn the page on the calendar and look at them all month! Since that picture was taken I have only driven the SR but finished the interior on the 57, changed the tires and wheels, and installed the hard top for the first time in several years. It looks a lot different now! -
Taken the day I put the top on - first time in several years.
(The red spot on the left edge of the picture above the guardrail is my neighbor's 58 Cushman Truckster. I did the painting and a lot of welding for him which is another excuse for slow progress with the Thunderbirds. We help each other out and work for beer!)

Those wheels/tires look much better IMO.
Seeing a "blind" hardtop on a '57 is kind of rare isn't it?? Most had the very well known porthole window option by the last year didn't they?? (even though it was always an option in '56-'57).

After 25 years of wire wheels I needed a change & I think it was a positive one. The whitewalls and the white top seem to look good together to me.
Somewhere over the years I recall reading about 10% were without portholes and I've been trying to find verification on that number sold, but have found nothing, but far more 56 & 57's had portholes. The 55 had the Ford crest, the 56 had no emblem, and the 57 had a round insigna very similar to those used on a 58.
My 57 invoice makes no mention of a Non-porthole top stating "hard top no charge" but the invoice from my 56 has "hard top w/port holes". Hope someone here can find production number documentation.Comment
