I have received some more email from Jiri, our new Czech Republic member regarding how he fell in love with the '59 Squarebird. The '58, or '60 did not float his boat, but after seeing that '59 Convertible with Tonneau Cover in Austria, (see it in the For Sale Forum) that did! He asked me for some pix of Yellow Rose, so I sent him some. Here is some of what he had to say.
"Hello Ray,
thank you for your quick reply and a warm welcome.
Regarding your bird, as I wrote previously, it's absolutely stunning and it's a great inspiration for me in the way where I would like to go with my bird. I spent several hours googling t-bird paint styles on the web and did not find anything even close to yours. You must have a great imagination to create such a beauty. As I don't have it, I go in the way of inspiration
I'm going to chose very similar paint style to yours if you don't mind. I already tried several color combinations from yours on photos I found on flickr (attached). (I will post here below what Rose could have looked like in Jiri's mind and what his might look like!)
I'm a great fan of US cars culture and I don't miss any US cars gathering in 300mile range from where I live (Prague). This year I'm going to Sweden (Vasteras) and Carlisle corvette meeting in August in the US for the first time. (Hopefully he will meet up with some of our Swedish and US members!)
At the end of my mail I would like to share my short T-bird story with you. I knew about existence of T-birds mainly from the Grease movie and saw a few '57s here in the Czech. Wasn't too exciting for me though as I was always more Vette, Mustang and Firebird guy. I was looking to buy me a '73 corvette for the last 6 months. This weekend everything changed. I PERSONALLY saw a '59 T-bird convertible with a tonneau top in Austria big gathering Traun 500. Since that moment everything changed - I must have that car at no matter cost (and I don't have money for spending really). By heart I'm in the late '50s US era, love Elvis and play Rock&Roll. There is no better car to suit my feelings than a '59 T-bird. Not a '58, not a '60, just '59.
I got home on Sunday and started to look for one in the US as there are few available in Europe but at cost that is far out of my reach. It took me about an hour and I found her! I am in the middle of preparations and if everything goes right, I will have her home at mid August.
Here is one thing I would like to ask you. There are several companies here in CR who arrange car transportation from the US, for very high cost I must say
My car is located in the US East Coast). Don't you have any dependable friends or contacts who could help to arrange the shipment to Europe for me? Of course I know it won't be for free, still I feel as enthusiasts they might be willing to help here… anyhow.
So that's pretty much it for now. Take care and hopefully I'll hear from you soon. Best regards, Jiri"
Now, here is where we might be able to help Jiri. If anyone on the Forum has moved a vehicle overseas, especially from the East Coast, please email him and give him the contact information on the company you made the move with, and whether or not they are a good one to deal with. His email address is: firebird@email.cz If you can help, even those of you down under who have moved cars, please do.
Now for what Jiri sees his '59 might look like when he gets it! He did a great job of photoshopping Rose! She looks absolutely stunning in Red and White! She looks great in Casino Cream and White and now I know what she would have looked like if I had stayed with that color. And in Tweety Bird Yellow and White, I see why so many people love her in that color. But the Red and White is breathtaking! Thanks for sharing, Jiri!
