New Thread: "What I got for the holidays"

My wife got a navy blue scarf and a new fancy umbrella,
as well as a couple gift cards, and money.
Our son got money, a really nice sweater in light yellow,
a now top coat and I got money and a poster that I wanted
and a gift of framing it. Tonight we went to a huge Chanukkah party at a friend's mansion in the hills, all catered and with entertainment to boot.
I know absolutely, now, that we are poor. This took place in a 5.5 million mountain top home with esclators in it. We had a great time, but we now
know that we are poor. Happy Holidays

If you have quality of life and the love of your family, you aren't poor. Those gifts you got sound wonderful, too. You are blessed with riches far greater than money.

Everyone who owns a classic car is doing far better than most, in this economy, Sandy. I'm happy and thankful for these days of sharing with family and friends, and the fond memories of many great Holidays past. I sorely miss my parents during this time, but I realize it is very selfish of me to feel that way. Dad made it to 97 and Mom was 99; a good long run for both of them.

Thank God for the priceless time we spend enjoying each other's company. And Thank You, Len Wheeler, for the Christmas phone call. I hope you had a great time with your Dad. - Dave

North Jersey and Norfolk may not be Vale, Co or Palm Springs but a darn sight better than Baghdad!!

Well put Dave, brought a tear to my eye. Sometimes I miss how fortunate I am and that I really need to be thankful and grateful for what I do have.

One thing I am really thankful for is this site and the people and information that is here. What a great gift this has been to those of us who hang around here.

Thanks Sandy and to all who have and continue to make this a great place!

I got a copy of Corvette in the Barn, one of Tom Cotter's books about amazing and unusual car finds.

Dave, of course you are correct, but somwtimes one can be overwhelmed over another's wealth.

              It's A NEW CAR!

Sorry to bust on you Sandy, and I mean no harm or disrespect. I just got a reality check flash when reading about others' opulence.

Eric Taylor (DKheld) is the winner for my Christmas.
My birthday (and Alexander's & Sandy's) is just before Christmas.
On Dec. 9th, I received a curious package (that I thought might be for my birthday on the 12th). Noooooo... Here's what I found inside:

I was beside myself with laughter, and I HAD to share it with Ray Clark right away. It was a totally unexpected random act of thoughtful kindness. Then, Ray tried to 'have some fun with it' by posting that I got a new '58 Thunderbird vert!

You guys are too good and caught on right away, but Ray fooled Eric at first. There's the poetic justice.

Now, I have my work cut out for me as I WILL paint and assemble this model. I'm thinking of installing LED's for head and tail lights. I will get started just after the New Year.

The model is detailed with correct front and rear suspension, an FE engine with optional tri-power, and decals to make the tires w/w or red line. It's cute, and made in Iowa! Thanks again, Eric. - Dave

Thanks again, Eric. You threw me for a loop with that one. - Dave

I had a distant uncle who, 20 years ago, was apparently loaded up with all sorts of wealth and riches.

But within the last decade, he has lost all of those things, and is now in the last steps of Alzhiemer's disease. It's very sad, that's for sure.

Enjoy what you have, while you have it.

You're more than welcome Dave - can't wait to see the finished product. I loved that story Ray wrote.......

Sandy - I'd only be jealous if that escalator goes to Heaven......I'm sure you're not poor at all - you believe.

Hope you guys (and everyone else) had a great Christmas, and Hanukkah - I know I did - I got 2 lumps of coal this year so I must have been really good! (just kidding of course)

                    Eric

                      I agree 100%.

That is why we're not as wealthy money-wise as we could be here at Chez Scumdog.

But our toys like the Thunderbird and our friends sure make up for it.
