    Looking For Mom's Tbird!

    Hi Anders,

Perhaps that is, but it does not look like it is Candy Apple Red to me. It looks to be a darker cooler in that shot. But that could be because it is an old picture. I am in conversation with Roger O'Dell now, the present owner of Larry's '58 Tbird. He also has control of all the pictures that Larry has in his picture museum. He thinks he has pictures of Tiffany's Mom's car, and will look. He does not know where it went. We think the story of it being sold, supposedly to Gary Niemie, got mixed up with Gary Niemie actually buying Larry's '58 Tbird, which he did, not Jeans. More to come as I learn more!

Here is the more to come! Roger O'Dell said that he joined The H.A.M.B., Jalopy Journal Forum in 2008 and saw the posts regarding Tiffany searching for her Mom's Tbird. Instead of emailing her, he told her in a Private Message, that he had seen pictures of Jean's '58 Tbird and asked him about it and her. She was from Texas, Roger said and the car was painted pearl white with rose pearl and candy red faded to silver by Larry for her. I have put Tiffany and Roger together in email and Roger just sent her a copy of the PM he tried to send her in 2008 and she sent it to me. However, it appears that Tiffany had not been back on that Forum after 5-11-2006 and never saw the PM's Roger sent her. At first he had thought he had sent Larry's phone number, but reviewed his PM's and it does not look like he did. But he could have if they had made contact. What a shame! I don't know if she had given up, or was busy with their new baby, or what. He said that Larry could have told her a lot about her Mom and maybe even what happened to the car. Roger said that Larry had a great memory until the end, that he remembered everything. Roger is going to look through the collection of several thousand pictures for more pictures of that car. He says he knows there are pictures of it up on the walls in Larry's Photo Museum.. So that is the latest. It is unfortunate that Roger and Tiffany did not make connection back then. Roger has since called me to say that he does not have any pictures of her Tbird on his laptop, but does have several of Jean that he will send us, perhaps tomorrow.

      Looking For Mom's Tbird!

I have obtained a copy of the June 1996 Rod & Custom magazine with an article about Larry Watson in it. I will see if there is anything in it of value to us. Supposedly, there was a 2005 Rod & Custom article regarding Jean Caussey and her Tbird, but I do not know which issue that was in. If anyone knows, please tell us. I would like to see if I can find that issue also.

Roger O'Dell, the present owner of Larry Watson's famous '58 Tbird, sent several more pictures to me yesterday. One was the same picture of Jean sitting on her Tbird. The other two were of her. I will post one of them, and if Tiffany, who also has these pix, wants to post the other she can.

I have been slowly working my way through every entry of the Tbird Registry of '58 Hardtops to see if I can find any entry that might refer to Jeans Tbird. I am looking for comments that might say this Tbird was painted by Larry Watson, or a picture of this Tbird that shows that it has a Watson paint job on it. So far, nothing, but I have a long ways to go yet. There are 19 pages of '58 Tbird Hardtops!

Here is that picture of Jean.... She was one beautiful woman! She was a Texas Gal, from Amarillo, and she is at rest in that area...

FYI, I remember Jeannie when she attended Roswell High School in Roswell, NM. There were drag races at the old Walker Air Base south of Roswell - Jeannie had a high profile at the drags, stunning gal, Daisy Duke had nothing on her, but she was way too grown up for us school boys. Looks like the attraction to cars is part of the DNA passed to Tiffany. BTW, there is a story that she had a date with Elvis when he performed in Roswell with Hank Snow.
Best wishes for Tiffany finding her mom's TBird, great looking rig.

          Aloha

Wow, Hal, you made my evening, reading your memories of my mother. I miss her terribly. I wish I hadn't been such a punk and truly listened to her stories. Please do tell me more, if you have any more to tell. You can reach me via Facebook or email newswoman@mac.com.
Yes, she went out with Elvis and made out with him --- I do remember that story. She said his lips were like "velvet."
Apparently, my step grandpa blew the night, though, following around Elvis' car like a total nut job.
          Be well.
Thanks so much for the glimpse of 50 plus years ago.
