    Power Steering Pump

Anyone know about conventional power steering pumps and brackets for 430 ?
Have in-work '59 Lincoln with 430. Crankshaft mounted pump is nothing but trouble.

There weren't any conventional pumps used on Lincoln's until 1970 and that was on 460's. All 430/462 engines used the crank pump. I don't know if there is sufficient room to mount a pump from an early 60's Ford. Thunderbirds had special brackets that were only used on the 1959/60 430's. I don't know if they will work on the Lincoln 430's.

The one I saw with conventional belt driven pump was in a '60 Mercury. Looked 'normal' like other belt drives.

        That must've been a 312 engine. 383 and 430 Mercury's had the crank pump.

Know what you mean. Though it was a MEL. Owner of shop working on '60 Mercury wagon told me it was custom pump set up done elsewhere. Wish I had the particulars.
