Is there anyone that sells standard size main crank bearings? I can only find 0.10 under. My journals measure right in the middle of the wear tolerance and I really don't wanna machine the crank if I don't have to.
According to the Ford parts book the part number for the stock main bearings on the '59 Thunderbird 430 is C1VE-6333-B (a Lincoln part number). This is the same part number that is listed for the Lincoln 430 from 1960-1962 so it appears that they use the same bearings. That part number cross references to the Sealed Power 4130M.
I have a problem.....I received the new crank bearings and installed them. Torqued the caps to spec and now the crank won't rotate at all. Took everything apart again and measured the thickness of the bearings. They seem to be right at .095. Any ideas? I'm flummoxed.
even if I just have the bolts finger tight the crank is hard to turn.
If you haven't already done it use some Plastigage to measure the clearance in all the main bearings. Your bearings measure according to spec so it has to be either the crank, the block journals or the caps.
