There was no toggle assembly on a '59. All the outside mirrors were manual and did not have any sort of door panel mounted knob. It must be a mirror from another type of car. Can you post a picture of it.

Heater Switch.jpg Trim.jpg Nuts Inside.jpg Hello People,, I have a couple more questions. Regarding my 59 My heater fan motor switch only works on low speed and off positions does not work on high speed. Also I would like to remove the two chrome roof trim pieces but the have an attaching nut on the inside that is strange to me. Do I need a special tool or just plyers to remove them,, Here are a couple of pics any help would surely help..Dave (Catfish59)Last edited by Catfish50; December 10, 2022, 04:56 PM.Comment

You have a two speed motor. The orange wire is the high speed wire. It could be the switch or the motor itself. The nuts are self threading nuts. You just need a socket to remove them.

As John said, you should have a two-speed motor with three wires coming out. The black is chassis ground, red is low-speed and orange is high-speed. So, these motors have two field windings for speed control.
Turn the heater on (with the key on) by setting the speed then use a 12-volt test light or a voltmeter to measure the high and low speed wires at the motor's bullet connectors. - DaveMember, Sons of the American Revolution
