My wife and I are downsizing and moving to Florida this summer/fall. Unfortunately some things have to go and our old friend Gold Bird is on the list. I have reached out to a few car friends here in Bay City Michigan about selling and wanted to list here as well. YellowRose, Ray is helping me put pictures on soon so stay tuned for them. So, my father bought our car in October of 1960. It was the Ford dealers wife car. If I remember what dad told me it had about 3,500 miles on her when he got it. He drove it quite a bit over the next four years and then in 64 he was going to buy the new 65 Bird. The dealer offered him only $1,400 for it and then said for that low price you should keep it! After all that he did. He had a young family when he bought the car. I was 1 and my sister 5 so it was time for a family car, we then got a Country Squire station wagon. Gold Bird or as the original color name, Beechwood Beige Metallic has always been in a garage and in 2004 it became mine. That year dad had our local engine shop do a complete rebuild of the original motor and transmission and a year later it had a total repaint as well. He decided at the suggestion of the engine shop to change to a 390 crank and rods so it grew from 352. The interior was redone a year later and still looks great. The carpet has faded some but looks good. It had new tires put on around 2009. The original miles are currently at 60,087 and the motor repair was at 57,000, so just about 3,000 miles since then. Last year I had the brakes done, new wheel cylinders , pads and new master cylinder. Also rebuilt the carburetor . There are two issues on the car, heater core let go last fall and I have a new one ordered then will get it installed. The other is the convertible top works fine but per my post last year I believe it to be a solenoid under the hood that is going bad and needs to be replaced. When you start the top up or down process it will stop about half way through. I then turn the car off for a few seconds and re start and it finishes. The chrome is very good to excellent but rear bumper could stand to have re-plating done. I did pick up at swap meets over the years a front and rear bumper as spares too, they of course go with the car. The radiator was replaced a few years ago, believe it was a re core and I replaced the surge tank last year as well. Happy to answer any questions and if you would like to see any other views let me know and sure Ray will post them. Asking $34,000.00. Thanks for looking, Tom
