First unscrew the door lock button. Then remove the vent window handle and door window handle (if you have manual windows). You will need a door handle removal tool as shown to remove the clips. Then unscrew the door lock handle and pull it off. Then remove the screws in the two side retainers, the weatherstrip retainer and the belt cap retainer as per the drawing. You should be able to push up on the panel and remove it. You will have to then open the door courtesy light harness connector to totally remove the panel. Hope this helps. I suggest that you get a copy of the 1965 Thunderbird shop manual. It is a must to work on your car.

I forgot to mention that if you have a remote mirror you will have to unscrew the bezel to remove the mirror lever from the door panel.
