Parking lights not working now

Yep, it's a common problem and so easy that most people overlook it.

Whenever I insert or remove a 'bayonet style' lamp, I pull the wires from the back to ease spring tension on the contacts. That ensures socket/bulb alignment.

Thanks everyone, finally traced it down to the driver side socket. I guess it was shorting and borh tail lights and park lights would not work.

I once had a Ford Pinto. BOTH headlights burned out at the same time. Everything else worked just fine. What are the chances? I never heard of such before or after but that's what happened.

The circuit breaker is not part of the switch. If putting the old switch in doesn't fix it then it's most likely the breaker.

Thanks, i did mean tail lights. I forgot to check the license plate light. Seems strange that both would be out with a new switch, they did work for a while. I will start at the switch, maybe put the old one in and see. Thanks again.

When you say rear parking lights do you mean the tail lights? There are no rear parking lights. Both the front parking lights and the rear tail lights start at the headlight switch but they are on different terminals. There's a 15 amp circuit breaker behind the headlight switch that controls both as well as your license plate light. Refer to the drawing. I would check that first. You can start there and work your way toward the lights or start at the lights and work your way back to the switch.

Have not found my parking lights problem yet. As an update both front and rear park lights not working. Could it be the new head light switch I put in a few months ago?

The parking lights don't go through the dimmer switch. If the turn signals work but not the parking lights then you will have to trace the wiring back from the lights through the firewall wiring block and on to the headlight switch. Your parking lights have two wires. Black-Yellow is the parking light wire. Make sure the lights have a solid ground. The firewall wiring block is a known problem area. I would take that apart and check for corrosion or burnt wires.

Good morning, I had a problem with my headlights and it was recommended that I check the dimmer switch. That was the issue with them but I still don't have parking lights coming on. I did not replace the dimmer switch so could that be why the park lights are not working or something else. They have work fine before and tail light, brake light and signal lights all work. Almost ready to put this beast back on the road, waiting for my Holley carburetor kit to come today.
