I finally got my am/fm radio back from repair. Now I'm installing it back into the console and want to use the after market front and rear speakers that I've installed. The shop manual says to use the large plug (the one with three female and one male connector). Is the plug that has the electrical tape wrapped on it the one to use? But I'm not understanding the diagram. I must be missing something (old eyes). This radio is for a 1964 bird. I wish I had a color coded diagram for this, for me would be much easier, but I guess this is what makes our cars special. All help to connect the speakers apricated, thanks, Larry.

FM? That's high dollar stuff. Regardless, the wiring is simple even if you have no diagram. Just use a volt-ohm meter and a AA battery:- One wire is 12v with ignition, use the voltage setting to test it.
- A second is 12v with the dash light circuit; less voltage when dimmed.
- For a mono radio there is a pair for the speaker(s). They should be the same color as where your speakers are. If the speaker is connected, connect one side of the AA battery to one wire and brush the second of the pair across the other side of the battery. This will create a "pop" to identify which speaker you are connecting to.
- For a stereo radio there should be two pairs of wires, or three if they share a common ground.
