my 1964 bird door ajar light stays on when the doors are shut wearing down the battery. anybody have this problem? help, I'm tired of disconnecting the battery everyday. thanks Larry. This problem wasn't here before (grimlins). Thanks again.

On a '66 the interior lights are controlled by push button switches on the forward part of the door jambs. Closing the door pushes the switch in, disconnecting the lights. I would hazard a guess that the same switch also registers a door ajar signal if the door isn't fully closed against the push button. Maybe one of the switches is bad. Part of the " highway convenience package " . Flashes when the door is open . There is a small trigger arm on the the latching mechanism inside the door by the outside door handle . Option in '64, '65 and '66 , Perhaps '67 and on but not sure .Comment

i'm speaking of door ajar light on the convenience package on a 64 bird. mine just started to stay lit all the time. the only way to turn it off is to disconnect the battery. sorry for the confusion. thanks larry.Comment
