I have Jim osbourns body trim and sealer assembly manual for my 65 and was wondering if any one knows of a reference guide as to what nuts and bolts to use where. I have a very small picture of the bolt and a number to go with it (378695-s2) for example and don't know thread pattern or bolt size. I am going to run into this issue a lot as I only labeled and bagged what I thought to be necessary on the bird. If there is a reference guide for the numbers to go with the nuts and bolts I would appreciate it!!

The only place that I know of to find that info is in the Ford Parts and Accessories manuals. The Illustrations manual has the picture with the location and part number. The Text manual gives the bolt size and thread. Unfortunately a lot of the nuts and bolts aren't listed so it's hit and miss.

John is right. The way bolts are listed is by what it fastens. In other words, if you look up a fender for example, the associated bolts will be listed. Consequently, the same bolts will be listed every time they are used to fasten anything else.
For example, your wipers have a the pivot shaft spacer, 1/4"-20 nut. The nut is a 370695-S
What is the part number your fastener is holding down?
For most fasteners, we simply use bolts and nuts that are readily available. How common is a 1/4"-20 nut? Every hardware store sells them. - DaveMember, Sons of the American Revolution

Well I am fastening down the window regulators before I line up everything. the bolt I will use is actually 378695-S2 and I have an idea of which on it is by the very small picture that I have, but I want to make sure. I guess since it is behind the door panel, as long as it does its job, does it matter if its original or ace hardware bolt?Follow me.Comment

I can't find that part number on any of the diagrams I looked at. Since it's hidden it really doesn't matter if it's a factory bolt or not. There's nothing special about it.

I see the assembly but I don't see the bolt number you are referring to. The bolts that hold it in place (359662-S) are 5/16-18 3/4" hex head with a washer. They're pretty standard body bolts so you should be able to find them at the home center store or local auto store. Make sure they aren't too long or they could hit the arm.

We defiantly have different manuals. But it's an electric window and I double checKed my number and they are correct. If I was a paying member I think it would be easier to post pictures. Regardless, no one knows of a bolt reference guide to Jim osbourns assembly manual? I think they are ford numbers. Any ideas?Follow me.Comment

I'm looking in the Ford Parts and Accessories manual. Part number 23200-1 is a manual regulator. 23208-9 is an electric regulator. I would believe the Ford manual over Jim Osborne's manual. The electric regulator shows a 376976 5/16-18 1/2 bolt.

Again, John is on the money. Here's the TEXT from the Ford catalog. As said, eight 5/16"-18 x 1/2" screws are used on the RH and LH to attach the motorized regulators. These are the FINAL ISSUE from May, 1975. I don't think Osborn has this update:Attached FilesMember, Sons of the American Revolution

I guess my first questioned should have been, how do I get a ford assembly manual? I completely agree with you guys. I got some 5/16 1/2" bolts with some washers to mount the window regulator assembly. I am about to turn in my tbird to get the body work done. autobody guy asked me to put the regs. Back in for the line up. I will put some photos up sooner than later
So where do I get a ford assembly manual?
Thank you for your help!!Follow me.Comment

I don't think they are being reproduced in book form. They show up on Ebay every once in awhile but they're usually not cheap.
