    Cast Vs Forged Crankshafts

Were 60's era Fords made with cast or forged crankshafts?

I saw an early Ford factory video in which camshafts were cast, then machined to tolerance. My guess would be they used the same process for crankshafts.

Is casting less expensive than forging from billet?

Does a forged crankshaft have material, mechanical, or balance advantages?

    Cheers,

    cast vs forged

Never had problem with cast cranks forged great for high hp bullet if push more than 700hp otherwise to much$ $$ for street duty cast would be fine in my opinion. Jeff

Have you ever heard of anyone breaking their FE crankshaft?
