    Car for sale

Just saw a car for sale. Has a Golde Top, windbreaker bar and seems to be i n good condition.
Is it a good deal at 14.300$? Seems quite low.

I would call it a fair price based on the picture and not knowing anything about the condition. You have to take into consideration that sunroof parts are pretty much impossible to find so if anything breaks (and they usually do) you basically have a non-operating sunroof. It may just be the lighting but the color seems to be way too white and not the original corinthian off white. If I had a choice I would much rather prefer the creme colored '60 next to it and forget the sunroof.

Seller says the roof works and it's been re-painted in the past.
I thought the roof was desirable as it's rare but as you said, if it does not work...

I've bought and sold sunroofs in the past and I can't say that a sunroof increases the value by that much. Some people like them and some don't. It's not like convertibles where it greatly increases the value.

Having been involved in putting my bloodhound nose to the ground to try and find Golde Top parts for that roof for years, I can confirm that they are very difficult to find... The last time I went looking for that wind bar for the Golde Top, the asking price was $500 and that was a number of years ago. Even though that top works now, does not mean that it will continue to do so... BTW, the one next to it looks to be painted Casino Cream, the same color that my '59 was painted when I got her. And a color that others hated, myself included, so that is when I decided to customize the heck outta her, and she got a new coat of sparkling bright yellow and white metallic paint and a matching interior...

Actually it's Moroccan Ivory. It was changed in 1960 from the Casino Creme. It's one of my favorite Squarebird colors so I guess everyone has a different eye.

Thanks, John, I had forgotten they changed the 1958-1959 Casino Cream color to Moroccan Ivory in 1960, which, come to think of it, was the color of one of Dano's Tbirds! At the time I was looking, I was searching for a turquoise '59 Squarebird and could not find one, and settled on that one because we thought it was a good candidate. It turned out to be a pretty good car, after we fixed a number of things on it. I actually did find a turquoise one for sale in Utah, I think it was, AFTER I bought Tweety Bird... Of course.....
