    Power steering pump

Is the cap on the power steering pump supposed to be vented? I opened up the hood of the car and there was fluid everywhere. Seemed it came out the meeting surface of the cap and bowl. Maybe I didn't have the wing nut tightened enough? Does it pressurize when the fluid heats up and expands, hence the need for a vent?
    thanks in advance,
    Larry

Did your cap have both the grommet and the lid seal in tact? By cap I assume you mean the reservoir lid.

There should be a rubber gasket between the lid and bowl. There is also a tapered and flat gasket under the wing nut.

Both gaskets are there. Maybe I just didn't tighten it down enough?

IMG_0713.JPG Check how high you filled it. Supposed to be 1/4 inch below top of reservoir.

I saw that on the lid......when I refilled it, I made sure I was at or below that mark. Hopefully that's the cure

THAT would explain that new noise.
