  • Why the wheel cylinder leaked at the line fitting

This copper "flare saver" was meant to seal irregularities between the line and the seat. It didn't. I have seen these work in other applications but this shouldn't have been used in a wheel cylinder. And I couldn't even get it out to see if the cylinder could be saved. I'm replacing the cylinder and the line for safety sake.

Chris, why are you messing around? Rockauto wants ten bucks for a new Raybestos LH Wheel Cylinder. BTW, what happened to the threads, were they crossed? Was the flared tube messed up? - Dave

      Dave,
I wasn't messing around. I merely was showing what I found when I chased a leak. And yes RockAuto is where the new cylinder is coming from.
