  • 1960 steering gear removal

    Hi changing steering gear on my 60 Tbird,, wondering if it is possible to remove from bottom of vechicle without taking out complete column......any HACKS offered would be appreciated,,,,

    I've wondered that too. It always seemed that if you could get the car high enough, it could clear the floor. Not sure if it would clear other obstructions (center linkl etc.).
    But practically speaking, it really isn't that much work to take the steering column out.

        Did it on my model 63 with the front on jack stands. Did not have to remove the steering shaft. I used this tool: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

        A lesser tool would not have done it. The gear is very heavy. Be careful.
