Thunderbird customers could choose between a hard top without port windows (as shown below) or one with port windows, at no additional charge. Demand for cars with the port windows far exceeded the demand those equipped with hard tops without the windows, due to improved visibility and the stylish appearance of the round windows. The rear spare tire carrier was standard on all Thunderbirds.
