Pink Wire
I am installing a 60 harness on a 59 car. When the ignition is in the "on" postion I have one pink wire that runs from ignition switch through the fire wall and splits into 2 other wires. All are factory wires. When the key is in the "on" position this pink wire becomes very hot. Any input would help?
I also have solid black wire that runs from the ignition to a male end (red) of a fuse. I cannot figure out where the other end goes. It is not the radio. Thanks

I will check the 1960 diagram tonight. I wonder if that hot wire is the resistor wire. It should however not get very hot as that would damage the other wires.

Update...
After the car is started and the key returns to the "on" postion the car stops running. I have installed the ballist resistor from the 59 to attempt to solve the pink wire heat problem. The 59 resistor immediately begins to smoke...

You don't need any "additional" ballast. That "split" you're refering to ... from the coil there should be a wire going back to the starter switch (solenoid). That could be what you're talking about. The black wire goes to a fuse just prior to the overdrive relay. If you don't have overdrive, disregard it.

The brand new starter solenoid was bad. I tested it and it was not functioning properly. I ended up pulling an old rusty one off of my parts car and everything worked fine. 72 hours later I have a running bird. It will be at the Detroit Autorama next week. I have been restoring it with about 10 other adults and about 20-25 students as a high school project.
