I would love to see you, and have a Bingo evening with you, if I ever got the chance to visit Texas! Yes!

Anders, you have a standing invitation to visit my fair city and that applies to all of you. I happen to be one of the best unofficial tour guides in this city. For several decades, I operated an Amateur Radio Six Meter Club, called SMIRK, for Six Meter International Radio Klub. (I am SMIRK #1 and K5ZMS in case any of you are "Ham" radio operators. I have talked with a number of Six Meter Hams in New Zealand and Australia at 50MHZ! That is quite a feat!). As a result, I had members from all over the world come to San Antonio to visit our beautiful city and enjoy the Texas hospitality. So ya'll come!

But I digress. On my way to Austin this morning to see Christy (she is improving), I stopped to see where Danny was on my left door panel. He epoxied the arm rest, and restored it and was covering the door when I got there. I posted some new pictures. Unfortunately, he already had the arm rest covered, but it looks great! So the left door is nearly finished.

Next comes the two kick panels on the left and right side beyond the door. After that, I think the dash and center console will be next. I think the last thing he will do is the carpeting. Somewhere along the way, he will do the front seats but set them aside for awhile.

Danny has about finished the drivers side door panel. He hung it today to see how it was looking. He has some alignment of the top panel to do and some tightening of the fabric. It is looking good, He said he is going to work on coloring the dash next. He wants to see how that will come out, I think. If you need it, here is the link.

Hey Ray,
Looking good! Keep us posted. I'm very interested in what he does to the dash. Old Blue has hand stitched leather on the dash in her. I think that would look so neat in one of these old Birds!!!
Also let us know if he does anything to keep the dash from sagging in the future!

Hi Richard,

My dash pad is in excellent shape. He is not planning on doing anything to it that I know of, other than paint or dye it. I am not sure if he is going to dye it or paint it. At one point when talking about doing it, he used the word "dye". Today he used the word "paint". I will find out. In any case, he is going to do it in place. He will start covering up anything that needs to be to keep the paint or dye off it.

This is the day that I can answer the question that some of you have been asking in PM or emails.. What color is the dash and center console going to be?.. Today, I took pictures of the center console before and after we put it in place, just for picture taking. There is still more work to be done in the dashpad area, the center console and the door panels. This will show you what YellowRose looks like now! A REAL Yellow (and White) Rose Of Texas!...

Thanks, Richard! I am gonna have slip over black elastic covers made for the front seats for when mechanics might be working inside the car. No one will be allowed inside that Tbird with anything in their pockets, like a screwdriver.... I will probably do something like that to protect the rear seats also. The center console has been covered with the same white material and yellow material used on the seats and door panels. The dashpad was painted and not dyed. After he gets a few more things squared away in the dash area, and door panels, he will start stripping out the old carpeting and putting in the new. After that.... something else is going to be done... But that is a story and pictures for another day! The car should be finished as far as the interior work goes, in about two weeks.
