Default Automatic dimmer feature?

Did the 61-63 birds come with a feature on the headlight dimmer switch called the "automatic dimmer". Apparently it has to do with the switch itself on the floor. If so what exactly does it do?

I'm not sure I'm giving you the answer you want, but the with my '65 Mustang, the floor mounted dimmer switch was basically the Hi/Low beam head light switch.

Hopefully that helps somewhat....

The Thunderbirds did not have the autotronic eye that was offered on the Lincolns.

I have seen a few cars with it installed. A dealer from that time could have done it with over the counter parts.
