Awesome! It certainly is more fun putting clean things together than taking dirty stuff apart! Having the car on a rotisserie helps too!!

Cool

Charley I am impressed with the rebuild so far. It clearly shows your ability to map the project out / create the design to complete and then tastefully apply. Good Stuff.

Thanks Dan, here's our test shot of the build to see it really work and we learned some thing we didn't think of, the boot needed a 1/16 vent hole are it draws a vacuum and will not self return the switch all the way. HA!

Here's some more of today's work.
An A/C vent cover made out of Basswood, we will fit the 4 vents, round the outer corner, give it a coat of fiber cloth and fiber resin, then cover it like the upper dash cover.
Just couldn't stand looking at those vent boxes that came from Perfect Air.

Great idea and fabrication. Why did you use basswood?

Dan, It's light weight and takes resin very well and holds it's shape and comes in many different sizes right off the shelf.
Most model builders use Basswood to build the large wooden boat models that we see on display. It also seems to have a very good crush factor do to it's cell structure almost a harder balsa wood.

First coat of fiberglass inside and out.
The A/C vent will start taking shape now.

Charley I am familiar with basswood in boats as a buddy of mine is an old school carpenter. Makes sense, just caught be surprise when you stated basswood for this application. Looks great

Charlie, I'm going to do a '55 dash with the same setup. Could you give some dimensions of your fabrication? Thanks. - Dave
