Default Water pump exchange

Keith, go down to the Advertisements Forum, and check the various Tbird parts houses. You might find a cheaper price.

If you don't like that, Advance Auto Parts has a reman Part No. 58-201 for $54.00 + $5 core charge. NAPA probably has them as well, in your neighborhood. - Dave

This is the way to go IMO. You retain the original casting.

Try NAPA. It's a little more expensive than Rock Auto but they usually have them in the warehouse.

Dave, I am looking at the RockAuto web page for the water pump. All I find is that I get a remanufactured pump from them, nothing about rebuilding mine. (58-201)

They only have a $3.60 core charge indicating they don't really need one very much. As it would cost me more than $3.60 to mail them mine, not worth the bother.

The rest of the information is most encouraging . . .but for the person who wants to re-use the original casting, this is in question.

John, that is correct. Now, add one to your cart and a 'NOTIFICATION' window pops up...

"Notification
A-1 CARDONE Part #58201 is available only through the manufacturer's Return & Rebuild service. Please see the note in the cart."

So by looking at their listing, it appears they have a pump on hand. Upon further investigation, they only collect your money then they direct you to ship to A1 Cardone.

When I searched for FE water pumps, I was really going for the rebuild kits so I could rebuild my own. Nope. There were posts all over the net from all the FE groups about how, not only are they unavailable but some pumps have different size castings for the bearings. That means you may get the wrong parts unless you rebuild a lot of pumps. It was far easier to find Y-block pumps and kits than for FE's. - Dave

...which further adds confusion and begs another question:

Why on earth would there be any core charge if they are rebuilding MY pump?

There is usually a 352 water pump kit on ebay, both with and without the impeller. I've also got kits but no impeller.
