Default 1959 Thunderbird Drag Car

Hi all, I know this is my first post. I'm not new to forums. I'm building a 1959 T-bird with a S&W Chassis / Ford Big Block 545 cubic inch engine. I joined because there will be stuff taken off the car. I'd rather see it go to somebody that needs it! I'm also on Face Book and if you Google Les Morris Racing you find my You Tube page with my Mustang on it. In the long run I hope you guys don't mind me posting pictures of the progress of building the T-bird. Thanks soo much!

Default 1959 Thunderbird Drag Car

Hi Les,

I have visited your links and I see you are looking for parts. Several Tbird parts stores have parts cars. One is the Bird House, the Bird Nest, is another and Carl Heller - partsetall on here has Squarebird parts cars. In addition to those, there are many auto parts places that specialize in Tbird parts. Check out the listing in the Advertisements Forum for their contact information. Call or email them and ask for their free catalogs. You will need them in finding parts. Also, you will probably need a '59 Shop Manual and several other manuals. All available through the parts stores. Have you registered this Tbird on the Thunderbird Registry? It is run by John Rotella and he is keeping a history of all Tbirds we can find that still exist. You can go to www.tbirdregistry.com and check the VIN # to see if it has been registered in the past or register it.

Good luck with you project and thanks for saving another Tbird! This one is going to be taken back to the racing roots of the Squarebirds in the late 50's it seems!

Default Kaase ...

produces some very nice products. I did one 460 build and it was a great engine, but I seem to be stuck on FE's for a while now. All it takes is time, money, and a certain degree of insanity. Mike

Les,

I have a 460 in my car.

If you need any info. just send me a PM.

I'll be interested in seeing how you handle the hood clearance issue. Seems the only thing that will keep the hood from having to have a hole cut in the middle of it is the low-profile Torker II intake.
