Default NYsquarebird58' Tbird

Hi Marcelo. Your can find your data plate on the inside column on the drivers side. When you open your drivers door, look at the pillar the door closes on. You should have a data plate riveted to that column. If it is not there, then you will not know what your data codes are. Unless you can find the ROT/Build sheet. Yes, it is often found in the springs of the rear seat, or back. It has also been found in the springs of the front seats, in the center console, under the carpeting, and up under the dash. It could be anywhere. If you have not looked through your glove compartment, look in there and you might get lucky, if someone in the past found it and put it there. You might also find the operating manual there. The ROT/Build sheet will give you the data codes. Thanks for putting in a bit of history regarding the car in your registrations form. Here is what Marcelo reported about his '58 Tbird. "Originally titled in Pennsylvania on 5/23/58, then NJ (unknown amount of time) and then finally ended up in NY where it currently resides." If you can find the codes I can tell you were you can go to decipher them.

If we can help you further, just ask. We have a great bunch of guys and gals here will be more than willing to help.

Jax, this forum and community have already been a tremendous resource. I feel like Ive learned so much in the past few days.

Today was a big day for my 58. It is the first time in probably 20+ years that shes been registered and insured now I have to see about getting her running.

Hi Marcelo, we had competing threads going regarding your '58 Tbird so I just merged them into one. It is not necessary to start a new thread unless the subject is different from this subject. When you want to reply to something in a thread, click on the Post button to reply. You could continue to post questions regarding restoring your Tbird under this thread heading. Or if you had questions regarding the engine, I would post them in the 352CI Engine Forum. Assuming it has a 352 engine in it and it probably does.

If you find your Data Codes (they should be on the Data Plate under the VIN # if your Tbird has the Data Plate in place still) look in the TRL under Decoding Casting Numbers and you will find the explanations for the Data Codes and also a breakdown of what the VIN # means. Just click on the TRL link under my signature. Let us know what you Data Codes are also. They will tell you what the car had in and on it when it left the factory so many years ago.

Have you checked the Tbird registry to add your car, or update it?
