Hand brake

My hand brake will not lock to hold the brake on. I pull it out and it hollds but no matter which way I turn it, when I let go it slides back down. Can anyone give me some advise on a fix?

Hey Dave,
There should be a little catch on the top of the emergency brake rod right behind the dash! I can see mine from the handle side of the dash. When I pull on it the little catch falls in the groves on the rod and holds it in place.

the little metal latch piece is either missing or stuck "up".

You may also have a broken spring on that latch. I'm fairly certain replacement springs are available from the parts vendors.
