    Fender skirt alignment pin

Does anyone know where I can pick up an alignment pin for e rear fender skirt for a 59 Squarebird? I purchased a set of fender skirts, restored them and when I went to put them on I realized that the skirt alignment pin on the driver's side was missing. I'm talking about the pin that is attached to the front side of the fender well and matched up with the hole in the fender skirt.
It's extends about an inch out and has a dis of about 3/16".

I don't have an answer for you TJ, but I would like to add my own question.
My car currently does not have fender skirts but I would like to install a set.

I don't see ANY pins along my wheel opening!

Are the pins welded to the lip of the opening or are they some type of screw-in thing?
How could they all be gone?

I will have to take a closer look because I am not sure. It's pouring down rain right now and I can't get to the passngerside of my Bird without backing it out of my garage. I don't want it to catch cold, so I'll have to wait to get a picture, if I can. I will get back to you ASAP.

These pins are bolts that attach to the fenders. You can get them from any T-Bird vendor.

They were only attached to the car if the car came with the optional fender skirts. They also may be missing if any patch panels were applied, since the patch panels do not have these holes.

Thanks for the info, I have checked with a few T-Brid parts houses and none have responded to my request. My fender has the hole, just no pin. And you are right, I just checked the passenger side fender and the pin is a screw on. If you know of a specific parts house that stocks them, please let me know.

          Thanks again.

Just FYI, I found the pins at T-birds by Nick, www.t-birdsbynick.com . Just though I would pass it on. Thanks to you all.

must of the venders carry these pins, as I have had some surgery done to my bird and the pins had to be installed wihth the restoration. I recently had to remove one of my skirts and found it hard to remove, once I got it off I found out why. My body man was form the time when these skirts were stolen often so he put a little deterrent there to make it hard for the would be thief. great idea nd hey don't just all off either. He used a small speed nut on the end.The skirts make these cars look special and attractive.

when you installed your fender skirt pins, how did you do it?
Like I said in a previous post, I don't have any of the pins.

If I don't have the holes either, do I have to drill them myself?
Should they be tapped to allow the pin to screw in?

I really have nothing to go by and am kinda operting "blind".

                thanks,

                  RE: Fender skirt alignment pin

The pins are threaded into the lip of the wheel opening where the fender skirt fits. Putting a nut in back of the sheet metal will make sure the pin will not fall out. You need to fit the skirt into the opening and determine where the pins line up when the skirt is in the locked position.

It is not an easy job. Sometimes because of improper body work, the skirts do not fit.
