    Shocks

Does Anyone Know The Part Number From Any Maker Of Coil Over Shocks To Fit The Rear Of A '58? Localy I Can Find A Lot For '54-'57 & '59-'60 But Not The '58. Is This Car Considered The Red Headed Stepchild Of The Bunch? What Other Years Or Models Will Fit It? Also Are The Front And Rear Coil Springs The Same?
    Thanks

    Tom:

I can't help with the shocks, but I have information on the springs from the Original Factory Standard book.

The 58 front and rear coil springs are not the same.

    58 Front Coils:
    Ford PN B7A 5310-Q
    Free Height = 15.30"
    Load Height = 9.60"

    58 rear Coils:
    Ford PN B8S 5560-A
    Free Height = 17.48"
    Load Height = 10.31"

The 1958 Thunderbird rear shocks are unique. They are not even the same as the 1958 Full-Sized Fords with air suspension.

The Ford part number is: B8S-18125-A
The ID number on the shock is: AN 18097-C
