    wheel trim suggestions

    Hello all,
I am planning to dress up my wheels a bit, I have the plain (IMHO, ugly) hubcaps on my 62. I don't have the $$ right now to go to the wire wheels, but I thought the combination of trim rings and baby moons might look nice. Obviously a more reasonable cost to do that upgrade, but I haven't seen them on a Tbird. Anyone have any pics of a tbird set up like this, or has anyone here done it?

Any other suggestions for wheel dress-up?? Thanks,

    Hi Collen!

John Byers has Ford Dog Dish hubcaps and beauty rings on his red painted rims on his Squarebird. I think it looks so nice that I have the same set up for Yellow Rose, only with yellow rims, scheduled to be put on down the road.

Something else you might want to consider is this. Bart ~ bcomo had a set of wire hubcaps on his '60 430MEL. They looked like the real thing. He did not have a problem with cleaning them, unlike regular wire rims. He just popped them off, put them in the dishwasher and they were clean. He might not have made his wife happy about that, but it worked very well.

Here is what byersmtrco's set up looks like.

they do look nice! I have looked at the dog dish hubcaps before and I like them too. I think if I go with the trim rings, I would want a smaller center cap, hence the baby moons, which I think cover a smaller part of the wheel.

Do you know what size the trim rings are? I thought they were supposed to be 14", is that right?

        Hi Collen,

I do not know if John has 14" or 15" rims on his Tbird. I am thinking 15". I have 14" rims on Rose. My beauty rims are 14", of course. They are 1 1/2" width rings if I remember correctly. I think the baby moons are the same size as these dog dish hubcap. They are 10 1/2" across. I happen to have a spare set of these, if you are interested. They are not exactly show quality, but I think they can be cleaned up to look really good. This set I have to go on is show quality. Here is what mine look like in place on one of my unmounted yellow rims. They will go on her sometime after the paint job is done. Here is a pic.

          Ray,
I forgot to email you earlier. I just finally put the center caps on my tbird for a 4th of July parade in my town. Even without cleaning up the wheels like I should, those really set the car off nicely. They are so much nicer looking than the plain hubcap originally on the car.

          Thanks for the connection!

Hi Collen! I am glad you were able to put the center caps on for the parade and that they really helped dress up the car! Enjoy!
