voltage regulator

I recently installed a new voltage regulator, and today noticed that it is making a loud clicking noise when I turn the ignition either on or off, and after shutting it off, it makes a humming or whistling noise for a few seconds. It is only a couple of months old, is there a problem with it ?

It really should not make those noises. There are contacts that open an close in it, but it generaly does not make much noise.
