    Need Emergency Help

    I need some help really bad.

    I ran my 430 this morning and everything was fine.

    I changed the spark plug wires and all wires, including coil are solid. The firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 This is what is also written down on the manifold. I started in the correct spot on the cap, and counterclockwise connected the wires to the above order.

    When I removed the wires from the distibutor cap, it didn't seem that they were in the correct order, but stupid me didn't write anything down.

    Do the 59 and 60 430's all have the same firing order? I may have a 59 430 in my 60.

    I've triple checked everything, but it won't even fire anything.

    Emergency is fixed. The problem was -- I started in the wrong wire slot on the distibutor, so the order was correct, but starting off by one spot on the cap. Duhhhh !!

        I didn't notice any change when I put on the Motorcrafts. It purrs just the same as before.

        I hate the low idle though. I set it to 540 in neutral and that gives me 475 in D1. I guess I'm just used to a higher idle with modern cars.
