The weatherstrip leading edge across the top of my convertible windshield stands up (proud) of the glass. It did not look correct to me so I checked a little more closely yesterday. I am sure it is not in there correctly. I can turn the gasket back easily and the top edge of the glass is right there, only a fraction of an inch behind the edge of the weatherstrip. (pics attached) It is probably unsafe and sure to leak. The glass has a rock chip and scratches from a wiper so I think I should have a glass shop replace both the glass and weatherstrip and get it fitted properly. What do you all think? Also, since I put clear glass in the sides, should I go with a clear windshield, tinted, or "shaded"? Thanks for your feedback. Kim Mc

Kim a properly installed windshield is not only a good thing but also helps keep the weight distributed across the front of your pillars.
Clear or " tinted " glass that is a personal choice and I suspect depend on availability?Dano Calgary,Alberta Canada

Any history or evidence of accident damage on this car? Doesn't take much to twist things a bit and the mounting area may have to be pushed into alignment to fit the windshield.Comment

Windshield fit question...
Dan & Joe; Thanks for the replies. The car had some light damage on a rear corner but nothing in the front or sides. The fit of both doors, fenders, & hood all appear good (nice even gaps between the pieces). The weatherstrip stands up and away from the windshield all across the top of the glass. The glass appears to be straight in the weatherstrip (one corner is no "deeper" into the weather strip than the other corner. The bottom seal (glass and weatherstrip) appears to be correct. It appears to me that the glass at the top just doesn't go far enough into the weatherstrip. I know the coupes and convertibles take different windshields although I don't know what the difference is between the two. I wonder if maybe the wrong windshield was installed sometime in the past? Maybe I can get some measurements for the two different windshields and somehow check those against the one in my car. Any ideas are welcome. I plan to take it to a glass shop that does vintage cars after I do some more digging. Thanks for the help. KimComment

I just had a new w/s and weatherstrip installed and I have the same issue at the upper right corner. The left side isn't to bad. Not sure what caused that. Thought it might be that I had the weatherstrip for quite some time before the install or it could be the windshield coming out of China.
