I sent that photo that I posted to Don at Bird Nest and told him that it didn't look like the correct seal.

He agreed 100%, and is sending me the correct seal.

Thanks to Bill (tbirds8) for pointing that out. I would never have known that otherwise.

I am so glad that someone said something about your seals. I have bought seals for my skirts that I have yet to fit to the car (gotta be painted first) and I am currently away from the car so couldnt compare properly, but thought they were way different than what I bought from Larry's. I didnt want to put my hand up and say anything, in case it was mine that wasnt right. So you have put my mind to rest, thank you.

Glad that helped you as well as me.

When I get them next week, I'm going to install them. I'll take photos of the installation, and some photo views of the completed skirts off of the car showing the seals.

That might answer some questions for the next person.

My seals go tip to tip and, as was said, don't look like those. Similar, but not quite. Also, either yours or mine are upside down:

That's the leading end of the skirt. What's not clear there is that the hook on the top of the image is placed over the edge of the metal. It's just loose at the ends.

Note that the 'fins' are against the skirt, not against the body.

Here's each end of the seal:

I think these are the originals, but there's no way to tell. You can see that they're worn where the pins pass through the seals. The car has been repainted, I think, or maybe it's just been repaired. If the whole car was repainted, then these are likely replacements.

Actually, looking at theses images again, I think mine are on upside down. In the top image, it looks like the hook at the bottom should be placed over the metal edge. That would put the fins out, against the body. I guess they've been replaced after all, and put on wrong.

          Hope that helps.

Hmm, looking again at your image, maybe they are the same. I didn't catch that yours were hooked over the metal. What do you think?

              Doug:

Those are the kind of photos that may solve this -- thanks.

Your's and mine are exactly the same, except that mine are placed 180 degrees rotated from yours. The way I have them "looks" like it fits the contour of the skirt better -- but who knows.

Yours look like they've been on there for a long time, and may be original. But, it will take someone else with an original skirt to say.

I think that John Byers 60 Conv may have the original skirts.

Is there anyone else with 58-60 original skirts who can give some info?

This may sound trivial, but there is no other information, photos or drawings on this anywhere.

Likewise, my '66 has no seals - and no chrome fender trim on the rear fenders.

A pic of how the seals are meant to fit would be nice.

                  Tom:

Somewhere, someone will have an original skirt with seal.

They just haven't read this thread yet.

Just wanted to say that I haven't received the correct skirt seals from Bird Nest yet. Should be later this week. I will post installation photos when they get here.
