    One more steering column question

Do you have to pull the whole steering column to replace the detent plate?

    Thanks,

You don't have to pull the steering column to replace it. However before you replace the detent plate I would replace the shift lever first and see if that fixes your problem.

Yes, the shift lever is normally the culprit, the detention does not seem to wear as badly.
I used a cutting disc in a grinder to make a deeper notch for the Park position just as extra insurance against the lever being bumped out of Park.
