    quarter window material

Do anybody know what kind of metal the quarter window frame is made of?
The thin lower part under the lifting arms track is nearly broken. But I assume it's not possible to weld this material...? Do anyone have any experience with this problem?

    Gunnar,
The quarter frame is a die cast material, sometimes called 'pot metal' as it is a mix of materials left over from other operations with no consistency, it's main component was zinc. It was used because it was available and cheap. I've heard of a product called 'Muggy Weld' which claims the ability to weld/braze this material. I have not used it, but have thoughts of trying it in the future. I have many sound quarter frames, but the chrome on them is pitted, some are suitable for replating.

Carl, thanks for answer and information about the frame material. I don't think I will try welding them.... The reason for this breakage is the the power motors and arms. When the window stops physically in the bottom position the motors and arms tries to push the window further down and the bottom part of the quarter window frame is to weak and starts to break.
I'm interested in a frame, how much?
Specially the left side quarter window is in bad condition and scratched after previous mechanism breakdowns.

Run on search on my posts regarding quarter window fixes.

You need to ditch the old stock rollers and get some brass bushings made.

Having a buddy with a CNC machine will be the key there.
