Road draft tube...

Has anyone extended the road draft tube back past the rear seat? Would this have any effect on car performance? I am getting a lot of blow by or fumes in the car.

I had the same problem...my rings were shot.

A quick solution would be to replace the down draft tube with a PCV set up and feed the fumes back into the engine to get them burned rather than just venting them into the atmosphere. There are several posts on this website pertaining to the details of such a conversion.

I have seen people put a rubber tube on the road draft tube and extend it all the way to the rear.

A better and neater solution is to install a PCV valve.

for the heck of it...try the product....SEA FOAM...it unstucks...stuck valves.. had that priblem my self and now it is gone after i used the sea foam,

You can't really extend the end of the road draft tube and have it work properly. The road draft tube comes out at an engineered point and has the end specifically cut to take advantage of airflow to create a vacuum to scavenge fumes. Unfiortunately an old worn motor was not part of the engineering requirements so you have the problem you are experiencing. I, too, would use a PCV. One from an early 60's Tbird would bolt right on and they come up on eBay regularly. Hawkrod

can you describe exactly where they bolt up?
I have one from a '64 with an angled bracket and I'm not seeing where that bolts to the engine..

The bracket bolts on to the intake manifold using the same two bolts as the throttle linkage. Hawkrod
