    1958 Dash Pad Size

Hey everyone! I'm new to the board and have a question about the '58 dash pads.

From the edge of the dash where the pad mounts, how much does the pad stick out at the top?

    Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean where the dash pad meets the metal that's around the instrument panel and glove box.

Hi John - yes that's right, from where it mounts (the upside down horseshoe sections) to the edge of the pad closest to you if you were sitting in the car.

My car is entirely missing the pad. I plan on going with a custom tuck 'n roll dash cover but I'd like to build up the area under it so it looks right but not have to shell out $400 for a new pad.

Mine is right around 2 3/8" all the way around except where it flares out to the dog legs where it's 2 3/4". There's a good tutorial in the Technical Resource Library about replacing the dash pad on 58 and early 59 Squarebirds. It should help you even though you are going to custom make one.

my measurement was taken directly above the steering column; in the center of the "horseshoe".

My ´58 have some kind of custom or aftermarket dash from what I understand, the somewhere in the´60:s. I like the stitch and the chrome. It´s soft and have hold the shape very good over the years.

Anders that does look neat especially in your dash pad colour. Makes you wonder if they had the stitching technology back in the day
